- Daree Allen telecommutes full-time from her home office in the Virginia Beach area as a Senior Information Developer for Alcatel-Lucent (formerly Lucent Technologies). She received her B.S. in Professional Technical Communication from SUNY Utica/Rome, and her M.S. in Management from University of Maryland University College. Her current goal is to become a motivational speaker and author. She is currently working on a memoir as a mentoring tool for teenage girls.
Daree is a Toastmaster. She joined Toastmasters International in 2008, and earned the Competent Communicator Award in June 2009. On July 1 she began a term as Vice President Education in her Toastmasters club, and also as an Area Governor in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, overseeing four clubs there.
Daree also a Past President of the Washington DC chapter, has spoken at previous STC conferences, has won awards in the STC Technical Publications and International Online Competitions, as well as serving as a judge. She has also facilitated divorce recovery support groups and workshops for churches.
